Early this summer, from June 7-9, 2012, a contingent of five UST faculty participated in the 11th International Writing Across the Curriculum Conference in Savannah, Georgia. Dr. Catherine Craft-Fairchild (English), Dr. Sherry Jordon (Theology), Dr. Cheri Shakiban (Mathematics), Dr. James Heyman (Marketing) and I presented papers, got lots of useful ideas about writing across the curriculum programs and courses from faculty across the United States as well as the world, and--yes--sampled the local seafood and historical sites.

We also enjoyed hearing UST WAC praised as a model program at the plenary keynote talk by Dr. Chris Anson, University Distinguished Professor & Director of the Campus Writing and Speaking Program at North Carolina State University. Since our program’s beginning in 2009, Chris has come to campus seven times to facilitate five-day WAC seminars for faculty.

Cathy, Sherry, Cheri, and I presented at one panel and James presented in the following session, which focused on assessment. What follows are summaries of our presentations.
