Using Embedded Librarians to support Student Research

Led by Talia Nadir (Library) and Debra Petersen (CoJo)
Tuesday, April 28, 2011
8:15 - 9:15 a.m. -- breakfast treats provided
FDC -- 403 O'Shaughnessy Library
Registration deadline: April 26, 2011

Learn more about how you might use an embedded librarian to enhance student research projects. Faculty who have attended a Writing across the Curriculum (WAC) seminar might be particularly interested in the EL as support for high-stakes research assignments. In Chris Anson’s handout on “Best Practices: Developing Support for Students' Learning from Assignments,” he advocates step-by-step support for students’ writing. (See UST WAC Blackboard site.)

Using IDEA Report Forms to Improve your Teaching

Thursday, May 5, 2011
3:30-5 p.m.
MHC 154
Led by Nancy Hartung and Melissa Loe, FD Classroom Consultants
Registration deadline: April 26, 2011

Want help using your IDEA Report Forms to improve some aspect of your teaching? Now that summer is approaching, you might have a little more time to reflect on this.

Participants will be guided through a process using data from sample IDEA Report Forms to identify a target learning objective that could be improved. Related teaching methods will be identified, as well as resource materials from the IDEA Center, that could help improve the teaching of the selected objective. This process offers a way to compose a teaching improvement plan that might be helpful for many faculty.
