Sabbaticals are awarded competitively.
Application materials can be printed via this web page (see link below). Applicants are
strongly encouraged to begin planning their sabbaticals a
year or more prior to the expected application date. The
deadline for sabbatical leave is
4:00 p.m. on October 1 (for the
following year), submitted to Faculty Development and the
department chair. Any significant changes to the proposed
and approved project must be approved by the Faculty
Development Center. Sabbaticals may be granted
for activities ranging from research to concentrated study in a new area
of one's discipline to carefully planned programs for updating
knowledge. Sabbatical leaves that involve intensive teaching will
not be approved - this typically limits the faculty member to the
equivalent of a one-course-per-semester load.
Maximum award: one-semester leave at full salary or
full-year at half salary.
