Fundraising Programs

Developed by the University of St. Thomas Center for Nonprofit Management, our fundraising programs focus on how to build your leadership to maximize your fund development potential, how to find and approach constituents for funding, fundraising skills and methods, and how to budget and collect data for grant writing purposes.
Improve your fundraising capacity by:

  • Developing your personal leadership to provide guidance and direction for your fundraising team.
  • Building a foundation to grow and support your organization.
  • Learning how to develop a realistic, useful budget.
  • Identifying the most appropriate methods for obtaining sponsorships and asking for major gifts.
  • Creating successful and innovative strategies to maximize your fundraising efforts.
  • Using marketing and public relations to your advantage.

All thirteen fundraising programs may be taken individually or as part of the Fundraising Certificate. Nine of thirteen programs of your choice must be taken to receive a Fundraising Certificate from the Department of Executive Education and Professional Development at the University of St. Thomas. Each program will be offered once in the fall and once in the spring.

Upon completion of the Fundraising Certificate, you will receive a one year introductory membership to the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) national and local chapters. This provides you with access to a network of colleagues locally and nationally, information libraries and resource centers and conferences, seminars, and monthly meeting. With your AFP membership, you will receive a chapter newsletter, Advanced Philanthropy magazine, and AFP news and professional postings.

Additionally, each participant pursuing a Fundraising Certificate is invited to our Fundraising Luncheon which will be held biannually. The Fundraising Luncheon will give participants an opportunity to celebrate, gain information about AFP membership and CFRE certification, talk with instructors about careers in fundraising, and to network.

Our programs are CFRE certified! Our fundraising programs fulfill the educational requirements toward the Certified Fund Raising Executive certification. Complete all thirteen programs and fulfill the 80 educational point requirements toward the coveted Certified Fund Raising Executive certification.
Becoming a Certified Fund Raising Executive is a multi-step process. For complete information on the requirements to earn a Certified Fund Raising Executive designation, please visit the CFRE website.  http://cfre.org/
