This public forum will follow the UST Law Journal's Fall symposium, Exxon Valdez Revisited: Rights and Remedies. The Holloran Center's companion event will include a reenactment of a portion of the Exxon Valdez trial's closing arguments, followed by commentary from a panel of experts and actual participants in the case or its aftermath. April 6th: Minnesota Leadership Seminar

  • Hank Shea gave the keynote address at this first annual event, attended by 75 students from 25 Minnesota high schools, all hosted and administered by West Point alumni from the Twin Cities and highlighted by the participation of six current West Pointe cadets, mostly from Minnesota.

May 5th: Fulbright Forum—Webinar

  • Hank Shea participated in a web seminar entitled, “Corporations Beware: What to Do When the Government Comes Knocking,” hosted by the law firm of Fulbright & Jaworski, with more than 200 subscribers.

May 13: Association of College and University Auditors (ACUA) and Ethics-Point Webinar

  • Hank Shea provide a presentation on “Ethics: Lessons Learned from the Trenches,” with a focus on university misconduct, to an audience of more than 360 ACUA members.

Past Special Events

Tom Holloran Receives UST Law Award

 

On June 1, 2009, the University of St. Thomas presented the Iustitia Et Lex Award to Thomas E. Holloran of the Holloran Center. Tom Holloran joins the following prestigious group of past recipients: Barbara Frey, Sr. Sally Furay, The Honorable Diana Murphy, and The Honorable Kathleen Blatz. The award states that "in law, business and education," Tom Holloran has been "a model of ethical leadership." He has "transformed the lives of friends, colleagues, and students" through his "gentle kindness, dedication to excellence, and faith in God."

Watergate Revisited


UST Law School Schulze Grand Atrium 

This public forum brought together four attorneys -- two White House insiders, John Dean and Bud Krogh, and two members of the prosecution team, Jill Wine Banks and Charles Breyer -- involved in unraveling and resolving the Watergate scandal that forced President Nixon’s resignation. The forum discussed what the legal profession did and did not learn from this historic event. Held on April 2, 2008.
