Exam Accommodations

Exam accommodations are available for students with a variety of disabilities.  Students who have been approved to receive exam accommodations have submitted documentation from a professional which verifies their diagnosis and supports their request for exam accommodations.

The Enhancement Program verifies a student’s eligibility for exam accommodations with an Accommodations Request Form (ARF) that is sent to professors by e-mail. Professors may view a sample ARF here. If you have not received an ARF prior to a student's request for exam accommodations, please refer them to the Enhancement Program to request that an ARF be sent to you.

Exam accommodations may include the following: extended time to complete the exam (double the standard time), a distraction reduced space in which to complete the exam, reader, scribe, use of computer, use of adaptive technology, or alternate exam format.

Students who have been approved by the Enhancement Program to receive exam accommodations are required to communicate with both the Enhancement Program staff and their professor in order to make arrangements for their exams.  Students who intend to use accommodations when taking an exam must do the following:

1)  Complete the online exam registration form: (www.stthomas.edu/enhancementprog/ExamRegistration/onlineexamreg.htm). Students must complete the online exam registration form four business days prior to the date of the exam.  Professors may refer to this link for more details about exam accommodation policies. The online exam registration form alerts the Enhancement Program staff that a student intends to take an exam in our office.

 2)  Provide the professor with the Testing Accommodations Form: (www.stthomas.edu/enhancementprog/TestingAccForm.pdf). Students must submit the Testing Accommodations  Form to their professor four business days prior to the date of the exam.  The purpose of this form is for professors to communicate to the Enhancement Program staff the tools that students are allowed to use to complete the exam (i.e. calculator, open book, notes, etc.).

Professors who have a student in their class who intends to use accommodations when taking an exam are asked to do the following:
