International Applicants

Non-residents of the United States are welcome to apply to the program and are encouraged to plan well in advance of the application deadlines.  In addition to fulfilling the requirements for degree-seeking status, applicants should also submit additional required documentation listed on the International Recruiting and Admissions Department graduate application checklist. These additional documents can be sent directly to the English Department graduate office.

English Proficiency Options

  • TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) a composite score of 80 on the Internet Based TOEFL (iBT), with a minimum sub-score of 22 on the written section and 20 on the speaking section (The St. Thomas TOEFL code is 6110).
  • IELTS (International Language Testing System) score report of 6.5, with a minimum sub-score of 7.0 on the written sections
