Kyle Peterson, a patent attorney, led an open discussion about "Making Your Mark: Developing a spirit of excellence through purpose and passion." The Alumni Reflections series showcases UST alumni and how they integrate faith, reason, and service into their personal and professional lives. Students gain valuable insight into the challenges that lay ahead, and are given the unique opportunity to interact in an intimate setting with UST alumni in their industry. Peterson’s presentation provided students with helpful advice and practical life lessons.

Kyle Peterson earned both his B.S. in Manufacturing Engineering in 1998 and Master of Business Administration in 2004 from the University of St. Thomas. Kyle received his juris doctorate from William Mitchell College of Law in 2001. He is an attorney with the intellectual-property law firm of Patterson, Thuente, Skaar & Christensen. Peterson also serves as an adjunct professor at UST teaching Introduction to Intellectual Property Law in the School of Engineering Graduate Programs. He was also a 2006 recipient of the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal's "Forty Under 40" award. Kyle, along with his family, founded WineHaven Winery and Vineyard located in Chisago City, Minnesota.

The School of Engineering hosted another Alumni Reflections session on November 6 featuring John Heimerl. John earned his M.S.M.S. degree in 2004 and works as a Senior Chemist at Stylmark. He is also the coordinator of health and safety as well as the supervisor of chemistry research and development. He serves on the Roseville Community Emergency Response Team and is a UST Mentor. This event will take place in OWS LL54, and lunch will be provided.
