On September 28th, 2009, the Engineers for a Sustainable World hosted an event on the campus of the University of St. Thomas which included presentations by faculty members and Representative Betty McCollum. Nearly 70 people listened to an up-to-date report on the science of global warming by Dr. John Abraham, a professor at the School of Engineering with an expertise in the area. Next, Congresswoman McCollum spoke about ways that concerned citizens can become active in making a positive impact on this important issue.
The event was particularly important because of upcoming legislation which will be voted on by the U.S. Senate regarding carbon dioxide regulation in advance of the Copenhagen meeting which will foster international agreements on greenhouse gas emissions.
The two hour event was video taped and a podcast is available for download at: http://www.stthomas.edu/clubs/esw/.
