VA GI-Bill Educational Benefits announced

School of Engineering Partners with VA Yellow Ribbon Program for Military Personnel and Families

Yellow Ribbon graphicBeginning in August for the 2009-10 academic year, University of St. Thomas will provide major tuition benefits to qualifying post-9-11 active duty service members, veterans and eligible dependents of military personnel under the federal government’s new Yellow Ribbon Program.

In this partnership, the Department of Veterans Affairs is matching the contributions made by schools to pay for the education of eligible veterans and qualifying dependents. In combination with the VA benefits program, UST Engineering has designed a matching schedule which in many cases will cover all of the tuition for the range of graduate engineering programs.  Eligible programs include masters degrees in Mechanical Engineering, Technology Management, Systems Engineering, Regulatory Science & Medical Device Development, and Manufacturing Engineering.

"The University of St Thomas has over a 100 year tradition of working with the Services in helping to educate and develop outstanding young men and women on our campus. Through our commitment to the Yellow Ribbon Program, it is our honor to show our gratitude to those who have served," said UST Engineering Dean Dr. Don Weinkauf. "The UST School of Engineering focuses on hands-on, practical, applied and values-based Engineering education which is delivered in a flexible schedule to meet the needs of our students."

With a long history of military preparation on its campus, UST's Air Force ROTC units have been recognized for their scholastic work as well as success in field training.
