
Professor AnnMarie Thomas has been named to the board of Leonardo’s Basement in Minneapolis. “Leonardo’s Basement is an innovative educational organization for children and their families. [It] create[s] imaginative learning environments where girls and boys ages 6 to 16 design and build their creative ideas, mixing art, science and technology.”

AnnMarie’s research focus is P-12 teacher education in engineering, with a focus on the teaching of engineering design. She co-directs, with Dr. Jan Hansen from the UST School of Education, the UST Center for Pre-Collegiate Engineering Education. Additionally, she serves on the board of the NSF-funded IDEA (Invention, Design, Engineering and Art) Cooperative, a collaboration between the Science Museum of Minnesota and the Saint Paul Public School district.
