On Tuesday, December 2, 2008 the 3M auditorium was the location for the 2008 fall Engineering Design Night. The evening included displays of student work from ENGR171, ENGR230 and ENGR220, as well as the highly anticipated Machine Design Competition. The competition was part of the Machine Design and Synthesis course taught by Dr. AnnMarie Thomas and Mr. Roy Jenson.
Ten machines built by the 24 Mechanical Engineering students, took the stage for a single-elimination tournament. (The competition itself had no impact on their grades.) After impressive performances by all 10 machines, the winner for the evening was Machine #8, built by Lauren Patrin and Peter Douglass (see pictures).
