
Dr. Michael P. Hennessey (Associate Professor within the School of Engineering) presented a paper entitled “Statics and Dynamics Projects Emphasizing Introductory Design and Manufacturing” at the 2008 American Society for Engineering Education’s National Conference in Pittsburgh, PA (June 22-25). He also won the best presentation award for his presentation in the session entitled: Mechanics Education Programs and Projects. The paper discussed 6 different lab projects undertaken by students in the Mechanics I Lab (ENGR 220-5), including 2 dynamics projects pertaining to a variant of the pinewood derby contest and putting on a golf green (both are shown conceptually below).
