About the Mechanical Engineering Degree (MSME)

Mechanical Engineering is a technical Masters program for those interested in advanced engineering concepts and tools. It started Fall Semester, 2009.

Study covers the areas of Energy and Power Systems, Fluids and Heat Transfer, Engineering Thermodynamics, Product Design, Modeling and Simulation, Project Management and Manufacturing.

The technical project allows students to deeply explore and industrially relevant technical problem in collaboration with our faculty and the student's company.  Sponsors benefit from the technical resources of the university, a long-term pre-employment relationship with the student, and maintenance of Intellectual Property generated by the collaboration. The student gains from the experience of a real working relationship with industry personnel while deepening their understanding of advanced engineering concepts. For details, contact our dean, Don Weinkauf, dhweinkauf@stthomas.edu or 651-962-5760.

Our experienced faculty challenge students to develop  a better understanding of their own work environments and to foster the right balance of technical knowledge and leadership skills.

With multiple graduate programs in business and engineering at St. Thomas, students weave through common courses sharing experiences with fellow students from almost every industry operating in the Twin Cities metro area.
