The graduate engineering programs offer a limited amount of distance learning to all students.
While we encourage direct involvement in class activities to enhance student interactions and development of presentation skills, we realize that this is not always possible. The following aid in distance learning:
BlackBoard Interactive Learning System: most classes offers this as a way to communicate the professor's lecture and supporting material. Some professors include an audio version of their lecture.
Breeze conferencing system: this is now a standard offering of the University of St. Thomas. Students using a browser and optional microphone, participate from anywhere in the world. During fall semester 2006, students used this system from both Tokyo and Philadelphia to participate in ETLS 808 Capstone Class. Three classes are using this during 2007 Spring semester.
Independent study: Working one-on-one with a professor, students do the work for a specific class and earn credits for it.
Please consult with the professor of the course you are considering or contact Student Services at technology@stthomas.edu for assistance.
