Peter S. Rhode
Interests and Expertise:
Applying infomation technology to achieve productive use of engineering computing applications.
Peter's interest in computing began in junior high school when he built a logic engine using battery power. He began programming in graduate school in 1963, writing Fortran as part of a controls course and using paper tape to program a Control Data 1604.
After graduation, Peter joined IBM in 1965 where he spent 28 years in technical marketing and support, primarily here in the Twin Cities. In 1992, he encountered Fred Zimmerman, who recruited him into the Manufacturing Engineering Master's program. He liked it so much that he began to support computing in the department from 1994 on.
B.A. Mathematics, Carleton College, 1963
