Interests and expertise - Leadership Career Mark Ness is a Brigadier General, United States Air Force (retired) and a retired captain and fleet training officer with the Northwest Airlines Flight Operations Division. He was Commander, Minnesota Air National Guard, 2000 – 2005. His interest in leadership has been demonstrated as he co-founded the Northwest Airlines Crew Resource Management program, Republic Airlines “Captain’s Leadership School,” and was principle advisor to the Adjutant General on matters pertaining to the Minnesota Air National Guard. Following September 11, 2001 he was Director, Command and Control Center USAF, Air National Guard liaison and deputy to the Director of Operations, U.S. Air Force at the Pentagon, Washington D.C. He is currently senior consultant for strategy and project development, On The Level, Inc., Wayzata, MN and Vice Chairman, Board of Directors, Air National Guard Historical Foundation/ Minnesota Museum of Aviation and Aerospace.
