Computational modeling of composites
Prior to joining the faculty at St. Thomas in 2012, Dr. Acton was an Assistant Professor at the University of Minnesota Duluth. Dr. Acton has performed research in the behavior of metal matrix composites, functionally graded materials, laminates and polymers. She has received funding support through the Information Storage Industry Consortium (INSIC), the National Aeronautics and Space Agency (NASA) and the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE). Dr. Acton has teaching experience in Statics, Mechanics, Structural Analysis, and Finite Element Analysis. She has acted as a Society for Women Engineers (SWE) faculty advisor both at the University of Minnesota Duluth and at the University of St. Thomas.
