John came to UST engineering in the fall of 2008 from Cirrus Design Corporation, Duluth, MN where he was employed as a model maker. While at Cirrus, he was a project leader on preparing a large scale model of Cirrus' upcoming personal jet for wind tunnel testing. He also taught SolidWorks, CAM and CNC to fellow employees. John graduated from Bemidiji State University with a BS in Design Technology. Other skills include: Equipment: High speed vertical CNC mills and routers, laser cutting machines, fused deposition modelers, Z-Corp, stereo lithography, all wood and metal working machines, vacuum forming equipment, spray finishing equipment. Methods: Advanced proficiency in CNC machining composites and aluminum, spray finishing, MIG and TIG welding of steel and aluminum, molding and casting, vacuum forming, light metal molding, and advanced composite fiberglass and carbon fiber work. Software: Highly advanced proficiency in Mastercam (X5, v9.1-v8.1.1), AutoCAD 2007-2000, SolidWorks 2012-2004, and SolidCAM. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating system, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. |
