Career
As corporate director of Safety and Environmental Management at General Mills, Gary Olmstead directs the programs that promote worker safety and health, meet legal mandates and protect the environment at the company's many facilities. An expert on policy as well as programs, he is a member of the Board of Directors for the Midwest Center for Occupational Health and Safety and the American Industrial Hygiene Association Foundation. He is a Registered Environmental Assessor, Certified Hazardous Material Manager and Qualified Environmental Professional. Olmstead is an adjunct instructor at the University of Minnesota in Environmental and Occupational Health and teaches courses on safety, health and environmental considerations in manufacturing at St. Thomas.
