For the past several months engineering teams from the University of St. Thomas have been challenged by 14 regional companies and non-profits to tackle some very difficult problems. From new medical devices to sensors, from alternative energy to improved manufacturing systems, the teams will have their working prototypes on display. If you haven't seen it before, its worth a trip. If you've seen it before, there are 18 new projects and 78 amazing senior engineers who will remind you that the seeds of technical leadership in the region start at St. Thomas. See you here!
This year the projects have taken the students from Mali Africa to design a low power refrigeration system to the Bakken Oil Fields of North Dakota to develop a new oil flow sensor to the inside of the human intestinal track to mitigate the effects of diabetes. From small start-ups to the largest companies in the Twin Cities, all find value in the thousands of hours of work put into each project. And the students shine in seeing their ideas fail and come to fruition in the real world.
See the 2010 Senior Design Brochure to read more information about each of the projects.
