School of Education’s Candace Chou to Take Students to China

The University of St. Thomas School of Education is pleased to announce an exciting international traveling opportunity for degree and non-degree seeking graduate students. In June 2008, assistant professor Candace Chou Ph.D., will lead students on a two week study abroad trip to China. The course that will be offered is CIED 690 – Technology and Education in Modern Chinese Society.

Through school site visits, lectures, presentations, and informal dialogue, the course will explore how China’s educational beliefs and technology contribute to its rapidly changing society and booming economy. Students will visit several Chinese universities and K-12 schools that have provided exemplary cases on China’s education system. By the end of the course, students will be able to understand the different schools of thought related to Chinese educational philosophy, analyze the curriculum framework at K-12 school and much more.
