Elementary K-8 Teaching Licensure                                

The elementary licensure includes a K-6 component plus an accompanying middle level 5-8 specialty in one of the following areas:

  • Communication Arts and Literature (5-8)
  • Mathematics (5-8)
  • Science (5-8)
  • Social Studies (5-8)
  • World Languages and Cultures (K-8)

You may earn your K-8 Licensure and a Bachelor of Arts degree as well as a second major or co-major in your area of specialization.  All students observe and participate in three clinical experiences in school settings prior to their student teaching semester. Students are also required to complete an experience in a cultural setting different from their own. These unique, off-site opportunities provide experiential learning invaluable for prospective teachers.

  • Concerns for diversity and equity throughout the required teacher education courses
  • Preparation to fulfill the standards and related proficiencies for entry-level Minnesota teachers as established by the Minnesota Department of Education
  • Classes held in Minneapolis

  • Three semesters – fall, spring, summer
