Coursework and field experiences are designed to provide the knowledge, skills and dispositions to ensure your success as an educator. Courses are offered in the fall, spring and summer semesters in downtown Minneapolis. Typically, classes meet late afternoons and evenings on weekdays and occasional Saturdays.
The Master of Arts in Teaching Elementary K-8 includes a 43-credit course of study. Your coursework from a prior bachelor’s degree is used to fulfill content area requirements for the 5-8 middle school endorsement. Additional content coursework (non-education classes) may be required to fulfill content area licensure requirements. This coursework is typically undergraduate coursework and can be completed at St. Thomas or any other institution with comparable courses.
