Licensure and Master of Arts in Elementary K-8 Teaching

The Licensure and Master of Arts in Elementary K-8 teaching is designed for:

  • Individuals who have completed baccalaureate degrees in fields other than education
  • Individuals interested in a career change
  • Licensed teacher who wish to add an additional license

You may choose to earn a licensure only, or with the completion of additional requirements, earn the Master of Arts in Teaching.

A major advantage of the St. Thomas program is that the licensure credits apply directly toward the master’s degree. Courses for the certificate programs are scheduled evenings and weekends for working professionals. Classes are held on the University of St. Thomas campus in downtown Minneapolis.
