Orton-Gillingham Reading Certificate

Timetable for Graduate Study
When Typically 1 evening per week. Start in the fall or spring semester.
Location Downtown Minneapolis campus.
Average Program Length Typically 1-2 years. Maximum of 7 years for completion.
Course Credits 3 credits per course. Typically 1-2 courses per semester.
Total Program Credits 12 credits.
Credit Limit  Maximum of 10 credits per fall or spring semester and 7 credits per summer semester.

Intensive Phonics-based Instruction

This certificate is offered to educators who have completed specific coursework and practicum experiences in the Orton-Gillingham approach. In order to qualify for this certificate, students must complete the following coursework and practicum experiences. This coursework and practicum experience expose students to more than 25 hours of classroom instruction in the Orton-Gillingham approach and 100 hours of supervised field experience. This certificate is not the equivalent of a Minnesota teaching license.
