Values That Guide Us

Mission

The Organization Learning and Development Department is committed to:

  1. Enriching the potential of individuals for improving learning within organizations.
  2. Promoting a learning community through collaboration and consultation within our University, and local, regional and international environments.

Values

When teaching, we believe that individual clients’ needs and learning styles ought to be taken into account in the process of learning. Adult learning theory shapes how we teach. Our programs are tailored to meet the needs of our clients.

Faculty in this department are practitioners and scholars, because we believe that students deserve exposure to practical experience, academic theory and sound research.

Members of this department subscribe to the values articulated by the OD Institute.

Partnerships

A cornerstone of the department is its partnerships with regional, national and international organizations. The department collaborates with the Minnesota Organization Development Network in a series of networking and professional development opportunities at the department’s home on our Minneapolis campus. The department co-hosted the 2003 Academy of HRD conference. And the department seeks professional development partnerships with corporations and other organizations throughout the region.
