University of St. Thomas and Kyiv Mohyla Business School Partnership

The Department of Organization Learning and Development (OL&D) is developing relationships with Kyiv Mohyla Business School (KMBS) in Kiev, Ukraine.

KMBS is a new, very entrepreneurial business school that since its inception in 2000 has become the most prestigious business school in Ukraine. These cooperative programs will benefit OL&D students and faculty by providing for new, international cross cultural experience in OD interventions and graduate level teaching.

Two Programs Serve OD Doctorate Students

Doctoral students have begun doing their team and individual practica in Kiev. These involve doing OD interventions with Ukrainian organizations. The first group of students went to Kiev for their practica in February 2005. View a pdf of their experience.

Another project that OL&D is working on with its Ukrainian partner is a cooperative program with the School of Human Resource Management (HRM), which is part of KMBS. The program authors are Anna Vlasova, director of the School of HRM and John Conbere, OL&D department chair. The main objective of the cooperation is to provide advanced graduate students in the School of HRM with courses in Human Resource Development given from the perspective of American professionals. OL&D will contribute to the program by delivering three courses each year. Courses which will be taught by OL&D faculty and doctoral students will involve three days of class work and on-line follow up.

In 2006 the O&D participants will be:

  • Nancy Weidenfeller (Cohort 2) – Organizational Change Management
  • Steve Manderscheid (Cohort 2) – Talent Management
  • Dr. John Conbere (Faculty) – Conflict Management
