Human resource professionals find that it is not enough to just manage the traditional human resource functions in most organizations. Today, you are expected to be an organizational leader, strategic partner and change advocate.
Human resource leaders are expected to know how to effectively manage change, innovation, and conflicts. In this program, you will:
- Design effective learning programs
- Understand management principles and human resource functionality
- Establish yourself and your department as a strategic partner with top management
- Acquire strong leadership skills and an overall understanding of organizational system and processes
Courses are developed within the St. Thomas values-based, liberal arts tradition. We are committed to improving practice based on theory and research. Human resources programs feature:
- Competency-based learning – Curriculum is designed to enhance the knowledge and skills needed for a variety of roles within organizations.
- Learning for the real-world – Taught by faculty with professional experience, the focus is on practice, based in theory.
- Connections – Tap into a regional network of peers and mentors in the human resource field.
- Convenient scheduling – Most classes are offered one evening per week or Saturdays an the downtown Minneapolis campus.
This program provides you an opportunity to sample the St. Thomas graduate program in human resources and change leadership. The Certificate in Human Resource Management was designed for working professionals. Credits may be applied towards a St. Thomas master's degree.
