Position Description

Job responsibilities:

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Recruiting of Master’s students:

  • Provide assistance for graduate preparation program fairs
  • Assist with conference/convention program promotion
  • Help coordinate master’s orientation program

Maintenance of Program Materials:

  • Assist with maintaining, updating, and revising program materials (e.g. graduate program brochures, alumni/ae materials, graduate assistant contact list, and internship site list)
  • Maintain blackboard group – i.e. announcements, student e-mail distribution list, alumnae distribution lists

Serve On-Going Program Activities:

  • Function as liaison among faculty, staff, and graduate students
  • Assist with the development of a student organization for LSA graduate students
  • Assist coordinator with library research
  • Coordinate assessment of internship experiences (e.g. workshops, seminars, dissemination of evaluations)
  • Plan and coordinate student, faculty, and staff activities (including annual spring/fall cookouts and holiday party)
  • Organize Brown Bag seminars for graduate students
  • Distribute information regarding special activities and employment opportunities

Other Duties:

  • Meet with coordinator every other week
  • Meet with department assistant as needed

General:

  • If time is available, provide backup assistance to the LPA program assistant and others in the department. Such requests for assistance will be coordinated by the LPA program assistant.

 

 

Qualifications: The successful candidate will need a strong understanding of the LSA program and the Department of LPA; students in the program will be given priority consideration.

 

Start Date: Late August through May

 

Length of Appointment (academic year or 12 months):  10 months, approximately 20 hrs/week

Compensation/remuneration

Salary: $10,000 stipend
