Requirements Based on Your Situation
Students holding a teaching license - Eligibility for K-12 Principal Licensure requires:
- Three years of approved teaching experience.
- Completion of the Education Specialist in Educational Leadership or Doctorate in Leadership program or a program consisting of a master�s degree plus 30 semester hours in school administration.
- Completion of a 320-hour field experience
- A situational observation component by a team including a school administrator.
Students without a teaching license - Eligibility for K-12 Principal Licensure requires:
- Completion of the Education Specialist in Educational Leadership or Doctorate in Leadership program or a program consisting of a master�s degree plus 30 semester hours in school administration.
- Completion of a 320-hour field experience
- A situational observation component by a team including a school administrator.
- Completion the state required internship, which includes one school year of classroom experience.
Currently licensed elementary and secondary school principals wanting a K-12 principal license - Eligibility for K-12 Principal Licensure requires:
- Completion of a 200-hour field experience.
- Meet state required competencies.
- A situational observation component by a team including a school administrator.
