Introduction to Learning Technologies (LHDT 525 – 3 Credits)

  • Examine learning theories and philosophies and their implications on the use of technology.
  • Learn the history and development of learning technologies.
  • Explore current trends and future challenges in educational technology.

Internet Web Site and Educational Software Evaluation (LHDT 526 – 3 Credits)

  • Acquire the knowledge and experience necessary to evaluate educational software, as well as Web sites on the Internet.
  • Examine ethical implications for using the Internet as an instructional and educational tool.

Design and Development of Digital Media (LHDT 527 – 3 Credits)

  • Develop theories and applications in multimedia design and asset creation.
  • Use productivity tools in your curriculum including desktop publishing, databases, presentation, Web design, image editing, video production and electronic portfolio.
  • Apply knowledge of multimedia applications and mind tools in the classroom.

Integrating Technology into the Classroom and Continued Learning (LHDT 528 – 3 Credits)

  • Demonstrate the ability to construct knowledge; gather, organize and interpret information and assess your learning.
  • Practice implementing technology in interdisciplinary and collaborative learning activities in your content areas to increase student motivation and achievement.

Theories of Cognition for Instruction – Learning Technology (CIED 610 – 3 Credits)

  • Investigate the contributions of psychology to the understanding of learned human behavior, educational methodology, and the learning-teaching processes.
  • Review recent research on the alignment of technology with cognitive theory.

Educational Program Evaluation and Research (LHDT 638 – 3 Credits)

  • Become an informed consumer and practitioner of evaluation in educational settings.
  • Evaluate technology programs.

Special Topics in Technology (LHDT 597 – 3 Credits)

  • Review current issues related to the design and implementation of technology in educational settings.

Internship: Learning and Human Development Technology (LHDT 571 – 3 Credits)

  • Demonstrate competency of the ISTE Technology Standards.
  • Provide an innovative experience in advanced technological developments.

Elective Component (6 Credits)

  • Elective components are selected in consultation with an adviser.
