Designing, Developing and Implementing Curriculum

The MACI, K-12 is a 34 credit program of study. 


Social Foundations of Education (CIED 505 3 credits)

  • Analyze the educational system of the United States and its relation to other social systems; economic, political and sociological conditions and trends as they affect education; current issues in American education.

Advanced Theories of Teaching & Learning (CIED 610 3 credits)

  • Investigate the contributions of psychology to the understanding of learned human behavior, educational methodology, and the learning-teaching processes.

Curriculum K-12 (CIED 532 3 credits)

  • Explore the practical concepts of the K-12 curriculum.
  • Encompass issues and factors that affect the curriculum development process.
  • Create educated projections of future trends.

Principles of Educational Research (CIED 500 3 credits)

  • Analyze methods of descriptive and experimental research, and basic statistical theory.
  • Apply skills to library resources, and the development of significant research methodology.

Multicultural Content in the Curriculum (CIED 654 3 credits)

  • Discover the impact of culture and learning styles on students and classrooms.
  • Infuse multicultural content into the curriculum.

Assessment for Learning (CIED 670 3 credits)

  • Focus on the purposes and types of assessment used in school settings.
  • Articulate ways of documents and communicating student achievement. 

Clinical Practice in Curriculum Leadership (CIED 780)

  • Engage professional skills in a teaching and learning setting.
  • Reflect on professional and pedagogical knowledge in areas such as curriculum development, professional development planning, instructional design, and analysis of data.

Electives (four course, 12 credits total)

 

eFolio Integrative Paper Project (CIED 799 1 credit)

  • Construct an electronic portfolio that outlines your professional progress throughout the program
