
The Leadership, Policy and Administration Department offers two certificates for practicing professionals seeking opportunities to enhance their knowledge and skills. These certificates may, with the approval of the department chair, be applied to degree programs should the student choose to pursue a graduate degree in the Leadership, Policy and Administration Department.
Admission requirements and procedures for certificate programs are the same as for master's programs. See the section on Master's Degrees for information.
This twelve semester credit certificate program focuses on developing cross-cultural exchanges and community-based leadership skills for students who are interested in becoming agents of change in their organizations as well as contributing to the advancement of Third World Countries. The International Leadership Certificate curriculum will initially focus on African countries and expand to other Third World countries. Program highlights include contemporary discussions on relevant issues in the areas of regional policy and administration, inter-cultural exchanges in African nations, and campus leadership forums with former Heads of State and Heads of Government.

This twelve semester credit certificate program is designed to enhance the skills and knowledge of persons currently working in a variety of student services leadership positions in higher education. Positions include admissions, development, student affairs, resident life, financial aid, academic counseling and other such direct services. This certificate is targeted to professionals with a master’s degree that are interested in strengthening their backgrounds in student affairs leadership. The certificate may be applied, with the approval of the chair of the Leadership, Policy and Administration department, to an education specialist or doctor of education degree in Educational Leadership at the University of St. Thomas.

This twelve semester credit certificate is designed to enhance the skills and knowledge of persons currently working in public sector government, health care, non-profits, education or other organization which deals with policy development and its implementation. This program provides practitioners an introduction to the origins of policy, analysis of policy, and its implementation. It focuses on policy development and analysis from various vantage points and offers a field experience opportunity for students to practice the skills they have acquired. Should the student so desire, this certificate may be applied, with the approval of the department chair, toward the Policy Development and Analysis concentration of the Master of Arts degree in Educational Leadership.
