Collaborative Urban Educator

The Collaborative Urban Educator (CUE) program is a collaboration of St. Thomas, Minneapolis, St. Paul and selected suburban school districts. The program brings people from underrepresented populations - ethnic, cultural, linguistic and other unique urban backgrounds - into the teaching profession. 

CUE is intended for persons who have completed a bachelor's degree in a field other than education or who already have a teaching license in something other than special education. 

Earn your licensure in special education with a specialty in:

• Learning disabilities
• Developmental disabilities
• Emotional behavioral disorders 

Participants in this standards-based, competitive program complete a specialized curriculum preparing them to be licensed teachers in approximately 18 months. Participants attend the program in exchange for teaching in Minneapolis, St. Paul or selected suburban public schools. 

Free tuition offered through the CUE program is contingent on continued funding from a state of Minnesota grant. Program support is subject to change. Persons with racial, cultural, and/or experiential backgrounds that will help make them effective special educators are encouraged to apply.

Participant Benefits
