In 1995, Dr. David Walsh founded the National Institute on Media and the Family, an organization dedicated to providing the public with information on the media's impact on families and, especially, children. He continues to serve as the institute's president. A licensed psychologist, Dr. Walsh speaks and consults throughout North American on parenting, family life, psychology and the media. In his work he describes to both professional and lay audiences the impact of mass media in the context of recent discoveries about children's brain development. Among his dozens of articles and several books are the award-winning "Selling Out America's Children" and the American Medical Association's "Physician's Guide to Media Violence." He has been an administrator for the Fairview Health System and teaches at the University of Minnesota and the University of St. Thomas.
