Certificate Human Resource Development

Technology and the ability to collect, manage, and communicate that data in an effective manner is becoming a critical function within human resources. Executives expect human resources to be able to slice and dice the information retained within the human resources data warehouse into many difference formats to make good business decisions. Human resource professionals need to understand how to collect the right information from employees effectively and encourage employee use of your HR systems.

St. Thomas provides a practical, real-world based program in human resource development which can be used immediately in your current position. Learn how technology is impacting your organization and how to use HR technology and information gathered effectively. Develop effective processes to train your employees.

Certificate applicants can apply at any time and begin coursework in either the fall or spring semester. Non degree students may take up to six semester credits without being fully admitted as a degree- or certificate-seeking student. Those credits will transfer in when you are fully admitted.

Developed within the St. Thomas values-based, liberal arts tradition with a commitment to improving practice based on theory and research, the program features:

      • Competency-based learning – Curriculum is designed to enhance the knowledge and skills needed for a variety of roles within organizations.
      • Learning for the real-world – This program is taught by faculty with professional experience and the program's focus is on practice, based in theory.
      • Connections – Tap into a regional network of peers and mentors in the human resource field.
      • Convenient scheduling – Most classes are offered one evening per week or Saturdays on the downtown Minneapolis campus.
