Certificate in Career Development
Finding the right employee who will be successful in your organization is at the core of the human resource process. But it's not enough to just manage the hiring process; today’s human resource professionals need to develop successful training programs to meet the objectives of the organization, work with employees on personal development while effectively assessing their talents and provide beneficial coaching and mentoring programs.
Leadership in human resources begins with a strong understanding of management principles and human resource functionality. By applying these basic principles with the latest trends in career development, St. Thomas provides a practical real-world based program in career development that you can use immediately in your current position.
Certificate programs enable you to gain graduate-level experience in a specific area of study. And better yet, you can decide later if you'd like to apply these credits toward a St. Thomas master's degree.
The St. Thomas Difference
Certificate applicants can apply at any time and begin coursework in either the fall or spring semester. As another option, St. Thomas offers a nondegree status for applicants as well. Nondegree students may take up to six semester credits without being fully admitted as a degree- or certificate-seeking student. Those credits will transfer in when you are fully admitted.
Dveloped within the St. Thomas values-based, liberal arts tradition with a commitment to improving practice based on theory and research, the program features:
- Competency-based learning – Curriculum is designed to enhance the knowledge and skills needed for a variety of roles within organizations.
- Learning for the real-world – This program is taught by faculty with professional experience and the program's focus is on practice, based in theory.
- Connections – Tap into a regional network of peers and mentors in the human resource field.
- Convenient scheduling – Most classes are offered one evening per week or Saturdays on the downtown Minneapolis campus. Students learn at their own pace.
