
Alexandre Ardichvili, Ph.D., associate professor, has received the Award for Excellence from the Literati Club and the Emerald Group, London, United Kingdom, for the best article in the Journal of Knowledge Management.
Stephen Brookfield, Ph.D., distinguished university professor, is internationally recognized as a leading scholar in adult and higher education who has published 10 books on adult learning, critical thinking and teaching. His most recent books are Discussion as a Way of Teaching: Tools and Techniques for Democratic Classrooms (co-written with Stephen Preskill), which was an Educational Studies Association Critics' Choice, and The Power of Critical Theory: Liberating Adult Learning and Teaching. He has won the Cyril O. Houle World Award for Adult Education Literature more than any other author, and has been awarded two honorary doctoral degrees for his contributions to adult learning and teaching. He has also been a professor of higher and adult education at Columbia University and a visiting professor of education at Harvard University.
Candace Chou, Ph.D., assistant professor, and Michael Mendez, learning technology specialist, received the Enhancing Education Through Technology Grant, which allowed the school to partner with Minnesota Association of Charter Schools (MACS) and vivED to offer a learning technologies certificate free to K-12 educators from the Twin Cities and Duluth.
John Conbere, Ed.D., department chair, received a grant to assess the implementation of the new conflict management system of the Transportation Safety Administration at selected airports around the nation. Organization development doctoral students had the opportunity to participate in the research by gathering information at airports around the nation.
John Conbere, Ed.D., department chair, Sharon Gibson, Ph.D, assistant professor, and Alla Heorhiadi, adjunct faculty and doctoral candidate received a contract from Univerisity of St. Thomas' College of Business to assess the outcomes of the Physicians Leadership College. The study reviewed the content and skills learned, and how these affected physicians, their peers and their families following the conclusion of the program. The contract was for $48,000. Conbere was the principal invesigator.
