The Cohort Model
In the Dougherty Family College, you progress through courses with a group of approximately 25 students - your cohort. These fellow students will quickly become your support system and your community.
Each class day begins with a faculty member working with your cohort to develop leadership skills that are highly desired by employers including critical thinking, strategic planning, team building and conflict management.
A shared lunch period gives you some unstructured time to connect with your cohort, as well as faculty mentors, tutors, and other staff mentors.
One day of the week is dedicated to professional development. Our career and academic coaches will help you build and sustain strong professional relationships with employers. You may also have the opportunity to work at a corporation or a community organization as a paid intern.
