University of St. Thomas

I have worked at the Development Office since 1999. My career path brought me to the University of St. Thomas because I saw that this university serves the church and the community of St. Paul, both of which are important to me. St. Thomas is full of remarkable people and distinguished students, making this institution a great place to work. I also enjoy meeting new people who have a strong interest in education and a desire to help others.

I primarily work with the planned giving staff to assist our constituents with estate planning, endowment gifts, and life income gifts. I am also the liaison to the School of Engineering. My geographic responsibilities are southern Minnesota, Texas, Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi. 

I have held several jobs throughout my working career, many of which augment my current position. I was director of major and planned gifts for Children’s Home Society of Minnesota, director of development for Austin Area Catholic Schools (Minnesota), a development officer for Hill-Murray High School, a junior high and high school science and math teacher, component inspector at Control Data Corporation, and, best of all, a tour guide at Hamm’s Brewery. I have also spent time managing a biological laboratory.

I want to help potential donors feel good about their gifts to UST, respect their values and what is important to them, and show them how it is possible to achieve their philanthropic goals. I want to help provide the best planning strategies for estate gifts that result in the lowest possible tax cost. I enjoy making dreams come true by offering a giving plan to the constituent that allows for a gift to UST and lifetime income for the donor.

I am married to Delores from Iowa and we have three adult boys. I used to love running, but now I enjoy biking, fishing, and spending time at Minnesota’s North Shore.  I also enjoy building projects around the house and cabin. I am a licensed pilot and a business owner. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls with a degree in biology and education in 1971.
