We look forward to having you participate in the Center for Senior Citizens’ Education programs and welcome you to our campus.  This page is intended to give you information that will facilitate your visits.

Parking a car on any college campus can be a challenge, and the University of St. Thomas is no exception.  Generally speaking, by allowing ample time, being patient and resourceful, our participants have been able to manage and meet the challenge.

We encourage you to consider alternative means of transportation whenever possible.

PARKING AND TRANSPORTATION OPTIONS

Ø      CAR-POOLING

Ø      PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

Metro Transit:  non-rush hour fare for Seniors is $.50

Call 612-373-333 for ROUTES and SCHEDULES

Ø      ST. THOMAS SHUTTLE BUS

Runs every 20 minutes starting on the hour between the Minneapolis and the St. Paul campuses, stopping on Summit between Cleveland & Cretin (the Arches) in St. Paul and in front of Terrence Murphy Hall in Minneapolis.  There is no charge to ride the shuttle, but a Center for Senior Citizens’ ID card is needed.  This card can be obtained from the Center for Senior Citizens’ Education.

Ø      PARKING – ST. PAUL CAMPUS

·         Parking in campus lots:  you must purchase and display an on-campus parking permit: the cost is $55 per semester.  This permit will also allow you to park in the RAMP at no additional cost.   (It is a walk of approximately 2 blocks from the ramp to O’Shaughnessy Educational Center.)

·        Hourly parking in the RAMP is available on level R2.

·        Rates are $1.50 per hour.

·       There is an electronic pay-as-you-go system.  Best method: swipe a Visa, Mastercard or Discover card in the card reader as you enter; do not take a ticket.  The gate arm will allow access to the ramp.  When leaving the ramp, insert the same credit card in the card reader at the exit gate arm.  Or you may take a ticket and pay cash at the paystation on the second level (R2) when you leave.

·         If for any reason the ramp is full, you can exit within 15 minutes without paying a fee for parking.  If you took a ticket stub when entering, use the same ticket to exit.

·       Those with state-issued handicapped permits may park in any of the designated handicapped spaces on campus, or any of the metered spots on campus at no charge.

·         Because the city of St. Paul designates many streets as Resident Permit Parking Only, availability of nearby street parking is very limited.  Be sure to observe signs along the streets as most of them require residential permits.

Ø      PARKING – MINNEAPOLIS CAMPUS

·         Parking in the Harmon & 11th St Ramp costs $2.50 for one hour, $5.00 for 2-3 hrs., $6.25 for 3-4 hrs., and $7.50 for 4-12 hrs.

·         Parking in the MEC Ramp (10th & Hennepin) costs $2.75 for the 1st hour and $1 for each hour thereafter.

·         Parking is available in the Downtown Auto Park (DAP) located on the corner of 9th Street and LaSalle Ave.  Rates in the DAP are $3.50 for the 1st hour plus $2 for each hour thereafter.

·         Those with state-issued handicapped permits may park in the MEC Ramp on 10th & Hennepin, connected to UST by elevator & skyway.  Your parking ticket will be validated at the UST Information Desk, located on the 2nd floor as you come up the elevator.
