Consulting Services
The Center for Senior Citizens' Education at the University of St. Thomas provides older adults with information and educational opportunities that enable them to cope more effectively and appropriately with the problems associated with aging.
Through the Senior Consulting Services, the Center offers older adults the opportunity:
-
to participate in small group seminars, and
-
to consult on a one-to-one basis with a professional on legal, financial, banking, insurance, social work, nutrition, real estate, and other matters.
The purpose of this program is:
-
to provide objective and professional guidance, and
-
to improve the quality and personalize the information available to seniors.
Specifically, the project objectives include:
-
providing practical information so the elderly can improve their decision-making abilities concerning day-to-day situations and problems;
-
enabling the elderly to be better informed and thus able to maintain a higher quality of life;
-
assisting the elderly in their long-range plans by exploring with them the basic techniques of estate planning;
-
reducing the level of anxiety experienced by the elderly by providing them with information and assistance.
The services of this program are offered free of charge.
