The Center for Senior Citizens' Education at the University of St. Thomas provides older adults with information and educational opportunities that enable them to cope more effectively and appropriately with the problems associated with aging.
Through the Senior Consulting Services,
the Center offers older adults the opportunity:
- to participate in small group seminars, and
-
to consult
on a one-to-one basis with a professional on legal, financial,
banking, insurance, social work, nutrition,
real estate, and other matters.
The purpose of this program is
- to provide objective and professional guidance, and
- to improve the quality and personalize the information
available to seniors.
Specifically, the project objectives include:
- providing practical information so the elderly can improve their
decision-making
abilities concerning day-to-day situations and problems;
- enabling the elderly to be better informed and thus able to maintain a
higher
quality of life;
- assisting the elderly in their long-range plans by exploring with them the basic
- reducing the level of anxiety experienced by the elderly by providing
them with
information and assistance.
The
services of this program are offered free of charge.
