Welcome to the Controller's Office at the University of St. Thomas

The Controller's Office, a division of Business Affairs, is dedicated to serving the financial needs of the university. Our mission is threefold: (1) to provide accurate and relevant information and analysis in a timely manner, (2) safeguard and maximize the resources of the university, and (3) administer and communicate policies and procedures of the university to maintain and enhance compliance with applicable laws and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

Our responsibilities include the following: the preparation and publication of the university’s audited financial statements, government and foundation grant reporting, endowment/investment accounting and reporting, the university budget process including long-term financial planning, tax and other university compliance issues, internal audit, fixed assets accounting, bank account reconciliations, and the preparation of various reports for external and internal users.

The Controller’s Office, under the direction of Mr. Gary Thyen, also oversees Accounts Payable, Payroll and the Perkins Loan Office.
