Opus Northwest began construction of the Anderson Athletic and Recreation Complex at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul on May 26, 2009.  The center is being constructed on the site of the existing Schoenecker Arena, Coughlan Field House and Foley Theater, all of which will be demolished in June. The center, which will include a basketball and volleyball arena, field house with 200-meter track, swimming pool, fitness center, weight room, offices and classrooms, will open by Oct. 1, 2010.

  2. Detailed decking in the arena and field house is underway.
  3. Masonry crews are setting stone on the south elevation of the Aquatic Center and brick on the north elevation of the field house.  They are paying special attention to vapor barrier installation on the Aquatic Center.
  4. With the warm November weather, crews are pouring multiple concrete decks.  The first slab pour occurred November 17.
  5. Opus expects to have temporary heat installed by the end of the month and will begin on built-up roofing for the east half of the field house.
