Computer Competency - First Year Requirement: Two Components

Students are required to complete both the Basic Skills & Word Processing Component and the Library Skills Component within two academic terms of entering UST. The requirement covers both new freshman and transfer students.

Failure to complete the requirements on time results in loss of registration priority. Loss of registration priority results in registration time being pushed back after everyone else, and can make it difficult to register for popular or hard-to-get classes. If a student has already lost registration priority, registration priority may be restored for the following academic term if the two requirements are completed by the mid-point of the current term.

Basic Skills & Word Processing (BSWP) Component

This requirement covers:

Copying text and pictures from the Web
Word Processing (MS Word)
