23rd Annual Undergraduate Communication Research Conference

The annual Undergraduate Communication Research Conference is sponsored by the Department of Communication and Journalism at the University of St. Thomas. It is designed as a celebration of undergraduate research in all areas of the communication discipline, bringing together students and faculty from colleges and universities of the upper Midwest.

Keynote Speaker:

Dessa--essayist, rapper, speaker

Dessa is an essayist, a rapper, a speaker, and a proud member of the Doomtree crew—Minneapolis' ascendant hip-hop collective. She is nationally respected as an artist with a dark, fertile imagination, an agile sense of humor, and very keen aim.  She recently released Parts of Speech (Doomtree Records), a new album featuring the single “Skeleton Key," as well the poetry chapbook, A Pound of Steam (Rain Taxi).

Paper/Proposal Submission and Registration

Proposals for the conference may include, but are not limited to, individual or group research projects, performance pieces and video productions in areas including communication theory, rhetorical theory and criticism, journalism, and media production and criticism. Submissions of completed projects is strongly recommended and given highest priority in the selection process.

Paper/Proposal Submission Deadline:

Proposal submission forms must be postmarked by Friday, March 14, 2014
Electronic copies of papers must be submitted by Sunday, March 16, 2014

Registration forms and payments must be received by Tuesday, April 15, 2014

Conference Fee:$40, includes lunch.
