What is the Advertising Federation (Ad Fed)?

Ad Fed provides an opportunity for students to learn more about the field of advertising through guest speakers from local ad agencies, ad agency tours, and social events. Through Ad Fed you gain real-world advertising experience that will prepare you for the job market and bring you together with ad industry leaders. UST's Advertising Federation is a chapter of the American Advertising Federation (AAF).

The AAF is "the only advertising association that binds the mutual interests of corporate advertisers, agencies, media companies, suppliers and academia."

National Student Advertising Competition

Each year, the AAF and a corporate sponsor provide a case study outlining the history of its product and current advertising situation. The case study is always candid and reflects a real world situation. Students must research the product and its competition, identify potential problem areas and devise a completely integrated marketing communications campaign for the client. Each student team then "pitches" its campaign to a panel of judges at the district level. Winners from each district then compete at the National Competition in June.

Recent sponsors were Chrysler Neon, the American Red Cross, Hallmark and Toyota Echo.
