Why Join?

If you have already experienced the joy of sailing, it is likely you don't need a lot of other reasons to participate in it on a regular basis. However, by joining our team, in addition to getting to enjoy possibly the best outdoor recreational activity of all time, you will also have the opportunity to meet lots of new people and make lots of new friends (it is hard to overemphasize the fun of having sailor friends from all over the Midwest); travel to regattas and enjoy Friday night registration meetings with the rest of the MCSA, and exciting on-the-water competition; structured practices with our awesome coaches and the ability to better your racing skills; and much more.

For those of you new to the sport--we welcome you! Don't worry, there are many other college sailors who never touched a sailboat before college; if you are interested and committed, we would love to teach you, and you will pick up the basics in no time. Sailing is an awesome and exciting sport--yes, it is a sport--and if you like spending time outside, adventures, racing, or learning how to do something new that is also really cool, we highly recommend that you come sail with us.

How to Join

The first step in joining our team is to contact either our recruiting officer, Eric Miller (mill0007@stthomas.edu) or our Commodore, Brandon Wilson (bbwilson@stthomas.edu). They will be happy to let you know about the next upcoming team activities and how to get started as a sailor. Alternatively, you can always come look for us at the activity fair or at Taste of Saints. A few other things you might want to know: Dues are $150 per semester; we also work a couple of events a semester at the Xcel Center as a team to raise funds. Service hours are fulfilled by helping to take boats out of the water for the winter at Wayzata Sailing School, where we sail. If you have any more questions, or want more details on how to join, please don't hesitate to let us know!
